I decided on making a website about something near and dear to me. Being from Jamaica, I've been blessed to be not only surrounded by its beauty but as well as experiencing its tastes. The variety of foods that are in Jamaica are absolutely amazing. So, I wanted to share that with the world. Anyone interested in trying new foods or traveling would appreciate this site.

Its a bit hard to get an image of every single dish that is from the island but I shared a few favorites of mine that people should definitely try out. My main goal of the site was to bring some exposure to my country and its culture. I hope that after anyone sees it, they'll go out and try out some of these meals.

As far as the future, this would be a great potential restaurant website. If myself or someone i know decides to start up a Jamaican restaurant. I could propose this idea to them. Or even use this as a guide of different things to try out at a local restaurant or Jamaica itself. I could create food vlogs traveling around finding different dishes from the best spots. Similar to Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.

When HTML goes well

I randomly typed into Google images creative websites so I knew I would be in for a treat. Followed one of the links and one website really stood out to me.  I ended up on the website http://www.awwwards.com that showcases the most creative and innovative websites around the web.

Goals/Overview:

The website I chose is called designembraced.com. Created by a creative/art Director and designer, Anthony Goodwin. His intentions for the website is a portfolio to broadcast work he has done for different startups, agencies and brands around the world.

Website layout:

The website is very organized, aesthetic and minimal.  He organizes his work with sub-menus to the side of the screen. Each link brings you to the different work he’s done. The layout of the menu itself is well made.

Typography:

The font is easy to read as well.  The main font in the body is a bit thin and light so it may be difficult for some to read. But, overall it’s readable.

Color Selections:

The primary colors of the site are black and white. Some font is exaggerated or bolded to separate from titles, body and menus. As far as color, the images are very bold and bright. Even the darker images stand out as well. The colors help to bring attention to the right content on the website.

 Images:

The images are absolutely stunning. They load very quickly and the quality is spectacular.  The images have a small visual effect to them that makes them glitch a little. Which lets them standout.

Navigation:

Navigating on the site first hand could be quite difficult to figure out. Once you play around a bit you’ll realize how easy it is to view content and all his work.

Layout:

The layout works well both in desktop mode and mobile. I was a bit skeptical about the mobile version considering the amount of information and visuals that the website has in general. But I was proven wrong of course. The website still flow tremendously. You would have to zoom in a bit on the mobile images. Other than that its still a clean design.

A Platform for Artistry

As a photography, I've interacted, networked and collaborated with many different types of individuals. Most of them were artists just like me. Fashion designers, photojournalists, dancers, makeup artists, musicians and much more. In this kind of field, I believe you see a lot of your growth when you work out of your comfort zone and expose yourself to new ideas. From my experiences, I believe that a lot of these creatives don't get the exposure that they really need. They all have beautiful talent that needs to be shown to the world.

I decided to create my twitter solely based on artistry. Creating a platform to highlight new and upcoming creators and innovators. Providing motivational quotes and tips for individuals. As well as creating a networking platform for fellow artists to work with one another.


I named the project: Artists of our Generation which is abbreviated to AofOG. This will be used as the official hashtag to help feature other creatives as well as connecting to the twitter itself.

FIND INSPIRATION

As far as accounts I followed, they were all art, music or business based. A few accounts I followed were: Humans of New York, Young Entrepreneur, Artsy, The Creators Project, AfroPunk and Saint Heron.

GENERATE POSITIVITY 

My intention for this twitter was to help uplift other artists and I hope this "project" continues and strives. I sense a lot of potential for it!

My Top 10 Favorite Childhood Cartoons

The other night during dinner, my friends and I had a nostalgic conversation about the different cartoons we watched growing up. It's one of those things that make you reminisce about the old days but then you realize that you're actually growing up. With that being said, below is a list of my favorite cartoons growing up as a kid that I hold dearly to my heart.

10. Dragon Ball Z Series

Dragon Ball Z was one of those shows I could go hours watching. Well, unless Goku was still attempting to create a spirit bomb for 10 episodes. But that's besides the point. DBZ is a great anime it's full of action and comedy.








9. Looney Tunes

A classic. Every 90s baby should have this in their top 10 in my opinion. Looney Tunes was the epitome of cartoons. This was the template of what a good cartoon should look like. Theres nothing out there that can beat it. Every character brought something to the table and one didn't overshadow the other (even though I'm obsessed with Bugs Bunny).





8. Fairly Odd Parents


"Timmy's just an average that no one understands"

This was every child's fantasy. A genie is cool and all but they can only grant you 3 wishes. A fairy? UNLIMITED WISHES. But, there are rules course. The Fairly Odd Parents taught me a few life lessons.

• Greed won't get you anywhere

• Think before you make actions

7. Magic School Bus

I literary watched this ever morning when I was in elementary school before I caught the school bus. The only show that made me obsessed with science. The Magic School Bus made science fun. The characters were diverse. Ms. Frizzle was the perfect teacher. And they had a pet chameleon names Liz. Get it?








6. Rocket Power

Rocket Power was sports packed. This was the show that made me obsessed with ATVs, skateboards, longboards, dirt bikes. The show even proved that anything a guy can do A GIRL COUD DO BETTER.

5. Codename: Kids Next Door 

 Want to talk about creativity? Kids Next Door took it to the next level. These 10 year olds ran  a secret operation to fight against adults. USING A TREEHOUSE. They make contraptions using anything they can find. Wood, gum, bubblewrap, tires...ANYTHING

Okay, this show's entirety was pure stupidity. But it was stupidity that you could enjoy. The jokes were hilarious.

3.  Proud Family

Every black 90s baby that has watched disney channel HAS to have this on their list of favorite cartoons. Proud Family was beautifully crafted in so many ways. Growing up and having a representation of your race in a show is always a proud moment. The show taught you so many lessons, taught you about different cultures, issues and what it means to be a family.

2.  Hey Arnold 
I looked at Hey Arnold as another relatable cartoon. Another cartoon that taught you life lessons. Every character had a back story as to why they are the way they are and it made you empathize them even more. This cartoon can put you in your feels. 

1.  Rugrats 

Creativity, lessons, diversity, action, comedy, drama, "feels" and babies. Who couldn't love Rugrats? These were the coolest and smartest babies around. I couldn't tell you in a short paragraph of how much this show means to me.
